Hot damn! I passed the 900-mile mark for the year on my run this morning and I’m feeling really good, all things considered. I’ve got a few fitness goals going on right now. 1) I’m not drinking alcohol this year to see how it affects my running. 2) I’m working toward a goal of running 1000 miles in a year. And 3) I’m two and a half weeks away from running the 42-mile classic trail run crossing the Grand Canyon rim to rim to rim.
I’ve been following a 50-mile running event training schedule for the last twelve or thirteen weeks, and I’m happy to report I’m pretty much injury-free at this point. I ran 28 miles yesterday and today I completed a hard 12-mile trail run in Boulder with the Westminster Road Runner Sports store manager and the regional Nike sales rep. So, now I’m officially in taper mode!
I’ll be running the Grand Canyon rim to rim to rim the day before Thanksgiving–what better way to work up an appetite for Turkey Day? (I’m sure there are better ways, but I’ll stick to this one this year!) And what’s extra cool about this run is that I will pass the 1000-mile mark for the year in the last couple miles. More to come!
